Staying
We will be camping at Blue Angel Park just west of the Pensacola Naval Air Station on Perdido Bay. We will eat our meals at the Navy Mess Hall at Corey Station. During the days, we will be taking excursions to the Naval Air Station, to downtown Pensacola, to Blackwater River State Park (about 25 miles to the northeast to go tubing), and to the beach.

What to bring
standard camping gear (clothes for 3-4 days, sleeping bag, toiletires, medicines, etc) For a complete list of suggested gear see the troop information sheet or your scout handbook. We will have tents but the boys can sleep in their own if they bring them (and know how to set them up). We won’t do any cooking on this trip. We will eat all our Pensacola meals at the Navy mess

For the beach and the tubing trip, scouts should have one, or preferably two, swimming suits and beach towels. Beach shoes (something that can get wet and be worn while tubing) are important. Also suntan lotion. The boys may want to bring a mesh bag to hold any stuff they bring tubing with them (suntan lotion, water bottle, snorkel gear, etc.). A hat and sunglasses would be useful. We will wear life jackets while tubing – that’s BSA policy. They will be available where we rent the tubes, but you can bring one if you have one you like.

We will take a 4 mile hike through downtown Pensacola on Sunday morning. The terrain is not rugged (mostly sidewalks) but a comfortable pair of walking shoes, a fanny pack, a water bottle and a hat will be useful. Plan to wear a troop tee shirt (red or yellow)

Scouts will wear their Class A uniforms on the trip there and back. We will also need to wear our uniforms for each meal at the Navy mess hall.

A wallet for spending money (see below)

Cost
Cost will be $80/person. This does not need to be paid up front. We will bill your scout acct. In addition, the boys will need spending money to buy a fast food meal on the drive down and back. A little additional spare cash will get used at gas stations, the museum gift shop, etc. $20 cash total seems reasonable. This is an opportunity for the scouts to learn to budget (or they don’t eat on the trip home).
